Cindy’s approach to supporting clients is trauma informed, non-judgemental and strengths-based. She works with clients to find solutions that work for them and believes each person is unique and has their own strengths and experiences to draw upon when addressing the challenges that life presents. In taking a collaborative approach, Cindy aims to prioritize the client-therapist relationship, working together to achieve positive change and growth and in developing the capacity to manage the challenges they face.

Cindy’s treatment approach depends on the unique needs of each individual. She uses a variety of evidence-based counselling modalities; incorporating elements of solution-focused techniques, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) exposure therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy and mindfulness-based strategies into her theraputic practice.

Cindy is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC # 11465) with 20 years of experience. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Simon Fraser University (in Criminology and Psychology) and her Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her professional life began as a personal development coach, and then was inspired by her clients to further her education to support people through counselling. She has worked with local police departments in victim services, providing on the scene emotional support to victims of crime. Cindy spent nearly 10 years working in non-profit organizations with individuals, couples and families in child protection. Cindy opened her private practice, Inhale Exhale, over 15 years ago where she supports individuals through their life journey. Through her experiences as a personal development coach, working in victim services and as a family therapist in child protection, and in her private practice Cindy learned that her clients are the experts of themselves. She recognizes she can best support her clients with knowledge, compassion and providing a space for them where they feel safe and listened to without judgement.

Cindy specializes in empowering her clients to navigate their lives with self-acceptance, supporting them in having a healthy relationship with themselves and in turn with others. Her extensive experience in providing support to clients includes living with; anxiety, trauma, childhood trauma, depression, managing stress, self-esteem, self-acceptance issues, relationship concerns, adapt to life changes and losses and to be less self-critical.
